Seems curiously parochial.
Could it be that people in that part of the world think they're somehow more important than the rest of us?

"Could it be that people in that part of the world think they're somehow more important than the rest of us?"

Slewing on the map shows the whole world.

But surely, no-one could harbour the idea that "...they're somehow more important than the rest of us?" I find that very hard to believe.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Oct-21-05 AT 06:58 AM (EST)]Sorry, it was early in the morning when I tried it and frustration got the better of me.
Even now, all I can get is either a bigger or smaller picture of the North American continent.

PS. Cracked it! My mouse goes a bit juddery over the arrow controls, but I managed to see Europe.
Once again, sorry for my intemperate outburst.

Gee Stumblin, don't appologize for intemperate outbursts.

If you start that trend, I'll be spending all my time appologizing. :)

Guys, there are scroll arrows in the upper left corner of that map that let you move around the whole world.

Yeah, I managed to figure it out after I'd got home from work. My eyes weren't working properly when I woke up today!
I'm nearing the end of my patience with this knackered old computer, the cursor jitters about, the damn CD writer won't write, the fan makes a really loud noise etc. Mind you, it's been working since 1998, so I guess it's given good service.

I'm assuming Win 9x/ME...

1. On your desktop, right click on "My Computer. Select "Properties"

2. At the top of the next panel, select "Performance" tab.

3. At the bottom of the "Performance" panel, three buttons... The centre one is "Graphics" - click on that.

4. There is a slider marked "Hardware Acceleration". Make sure the slider isn't at "Full" position, but down below half way; in fact, unless you play any graphics-heavy games, you can happily move it down to the "None" position.

5. Click "OK"... "OK"... etc. Then re-start.

That might stabilise your mouse.

Furthermore...

"...it's been working since 1998"

The above also assumes that you have regularly cleaned the mouse during this last 7 years... Taken the ball out, picked out all the fluff and hairs from around the rollers, etc... It's amazing how many don't do this (so apologies if I'm telling you how to hold the egg...)

Some people just buy a new mouse - I have an optical track-ball, so no such problems with my 1998 machine.

I recently have discarded my old style mouse, castrating my PC and now enjoy a logitech optical mouse. OUCH! No more balls!

Yes, you must always remember to clean your balls, it's no use if they are all sticky.

I've been using an optical mouse for a few years now, could be about time for a new one I suppose. New-ish keyboard too. It's the machine itself which is ancient.

I'm typing this on about a 1998 vintage iMac. Had to replace the keyboard. I need to add a hard drive, I'm out of space.
