I bought a brand new MIM P-bass a few years ago for $299.00, on sale. Yes goods go up in price but going from $399.00 to $619.00 in a year or less seems a bit high. That's about a 46% increase. I have two P-basses so it won't effect me unless my blackie gets stolen but when that bad girl is out with me it doesn't leave my sight. No one touches it, no one plays it except this cowboy.

$1950 US Dollars. WOW that's more than I paid for my custom shop Jazz Relic in 1996 ($1500).
I thought that the MIM Roadworn was going for around $1000 US around here in the USA.

Apparently the road worn thing uses nitrocellulose lacquer, which is a lot more expensive to apply and finish than polyurethane.

But I'm with the rest of the guys here: I'll collect my own dings and scabs and wear rather than pay a premium for them.

On a positive note, the MIM Ps are now available with maple fingerboards (perhaps I should add, I own three basses, and they are all Precisions with maple fingerboards).

I like the MIM P Bass, especially the maple fingerboard. My next bass & color won't really matter. I didn't know that they were nitro finished. HUM Time to Save Up.
