new invention-thansk duct tape!

Postby watertore » Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:59 pm

Hi All: I continue to try and get my 1 man band set up to meet my dreams. One I have been messing/thinking on for a couple years is to have a real brush hitting my snare and a real drumstick hitting it as well. Up to the other day, I have been using a regular bass drum beater, with a piece of wood glued on the felt to give a wood sound. Well the other day I was digging through my drum cases. Katherine, my drummer in Ca, gave me her fathers vintage ludwig set as a going away present. I found some sticks and a brush in a case and it all came together in a flash- duck tape  I cut the drumstick and brush and taped each to opposite sides of the beater. WOW, now I have either real stick snare sound, or real brush sound with simply losening the pad and turning it 180 degrees. I love the brush sound and was listening to Joe Williams the other day using that and an upright bass. Well, this new piano I bought(thanks Skyla for the inspiration to get one!), has a bunch of different instrument sounds on it. One allows me to split the keyboard in 1/2. I use an acoustic bass sound on the lower keys and a regular piano on the upper ones. This is a sound I have dreamed of for years. Thanks Duck Tape!! Walter

What's that old line?

You only need two things in this world: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it does move and it shouldn't, use duct tape.

Deep.

that duct tape has saved many a situations, and that w-d40 is right there with it! Do you guys know Blaze Foley? He was a friend during my austin days. Sadly he got killed, but the duct taped life he led will live forever! He was famous for many wild anticts, but everyone got a kick out of how he used duct tape to hold his worn out clothes and shoes together.
