These two songs are both from the Cowboy Bebop OST. These two songs, specifically if any, can be the traced root of my picking the harp up. They are Diggin' my Potato, and Spokey Dokey. Anyone else heard them/fans of the series?

Another excellent harp tune from Cowboy Bebop OST1. While not quite as
sophisticated as Spokey Dokey, it goes down real smooth and is a great
song for picking up the harp and practicing bends and shakes. It's
not the song that inspired me to play the harp, but it is the one that
taught me how to bend.

If you have a friend who plays the jembe, ask them to try and play the
beat while you lay down some blues. I highly recommend hearing the
song first, as there are some subtleties that are difficult to include
in the tab. Enjoy.

Not only is this an amazing blues song, it is featured in one of the
best anime's to have been released in the past decade. This is the
song that inspired me to learn how to play the harmonica, and every
time I listen to it I discover something new. It is more than worth
your money to purchase the full Cowboy Bebop OST1 soundtrack,
especially if you like jazz and blues. It has taken me a while to
perfect this song, and I still can't make my harp growl and wail like
the original artist does, who I suspect has been playing the harp
since he/she was a child. But I'm getting close.

Don't try this song unless you have heard it, and have mastered all
the bends and have good control of the harp.

This song was extremely hard to tab (especially the intro because
there's no real rythm to it, so it's hard to indicate the timing on
some of the riffs). It's also hard to include all the effects, but
I've tried to include all the important wah's, shakes and a few
vibratos; however, definitely listen to the song in order to
appreciate all the subtleties. And as always, play with your gut and
let the harp sing from your heart. See you later space cowboy...

First off, I am a HUGE fan of Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts! I love almost everything they do.

I'm definitely going to have to re-listen to these tracks. For those of you who have never heard of it, it's *well* worth a listen. For a bunch of Japanese guys, they can seriously play.

I love the episode where the kid playing the harp turns out to be an ancient evil force... that was kinda cool.

That episode is Sympathy for the Devil... I hadn't seen the series in years, and I picked it back up recently.

After that episode was what spurred me to FINALLY pick up the harp. Those two songs are what I am aiming for in the long run.

Anyone who hasn't seen the series, just pick it up... wonderful story, and the music is enough to make a grown man cry.

I congratulate you on your efforts. I've been playin' harp for about 40 years and have never once learned a tune from tabs. I don't even wanna mess with 'em. I copy licks by ear, and so only the simplest ones get really duplicated. If I wanted to do session playin', I'd have to learn how to read tab I s'pose.
