Hazardous for the environment

Postby maxx england » Tue Jul 21, 2009 3:55 pm

Lummo knows my little Realistic 2w battery amp, it has the above transport sticker on the top. A week on Thursday, I'm taking it to the Tower Of Song for the open mic and mic it up with the Strat running through it. Bizarrely, the sound is sort of Hound Dog-ish, so I'll have fun with it. I'll actually be on before Slide Boy Roy, so in musical ability terms, I'll be turning up at a knife fight with a bucket of water, but it's my bucket and my water. Well, something you carry in a bucket anyway.

Clive's coming round on Friday to rehearse a bit and I want to do Rock Me Baby with that gear. Should horrify him, but you've got to try, and if we can get something right, we'll go on stage together.

We did it, three numbers, got the place warmed up for the pros to follow us. As expected, the amp was raucous, cheap sounding and full of feeling. Couldn't ask for more.

Next Thursday there's a jam night, so I might take the Roland. Or just the The Box and let it do the talking.

Several times I have played small gigs with a LP plugged straight into a cranked Pignose. The little Pignose with the 3 inch speaker. Mic'd. Dirty rotten skunkified moldy cheese hell tone! I almost pissed myself with glee the crowd dug it so much.

Salute', TB.

But you only get one chance, so you have to make it count; and then run like buggery

TB, you're a shameful, barbaric, rowdy musical hooligan! Have a drink on me!
