Went down there, met Clive, we wandered around pubs on Friday night after a 3 number set at the Boathouse open mic until we ended up listening to Slide Boy Roy at the Anchor, far better sound than their website. Saturday was wandering around again, lost track of who was where doing what, so much going on. Main stage outside, most pubs had bands inside, ended up listening to a rockabilly band of all things, but they were actually a fun act (including publicly embarassing some silly little tart who was getting right up everybody's noses).

The acts all stopped at midnight, I went across to the campsite and jammed with some Taffs until "security" (a wet paper bag's more secure than most of them) came over and told us, get this, at a music festival, we weren't allowed to play music between midnight and 7am. Strange, strange, strange.

Sunday morning we jammed a bit by Clive's tent. After that, about midday we walked around and found ourselves eventually at the main stage watching the Official Receivers, a good tight and rocking soul/r'n'b band.

A thoroughly recommended event if you can get there, all gigs free admission so the camping's quite cheap really. But I was cheaper and parked my van on the £5 for the weekend council car park.

Then I went home for a rest.

Sounds like fun! But how weird is the no-music-after-midnight rule

Next time, it's going to be in a corner of the public car park, if it's down to two people, we can do it in the van, provided it's not Ken Stratford and his double bass. After all, it's about musicians, which are by definition, a nocturnal species.
