I like her drumming, too. Simple and powerful. And I prefer funk drummers or blues rock Moon/Bonham.

There's no accounting for taste.

I can't believe this is being discussed on a forum dedicated to the blues. White Stripes are a joke........IMHO

I think the same at SRV being mentioned... but hey!

Have you read/listened to any interviews with Jack White? He loves the blues. sure what he plays might not be "the blues" but he's well into it!

I'd say Ball and a Biscuit is as bluesy as anything heard on this forum.

Cheers, TB.

whats wrong with it?.......jack white covered several blues tunes on there albums & son house is his main musical hero.

yes i know there music aint from the Delta but there is a clear blues style to there tunes imo. how many of there albums have you heard before?..........his slide guitar style is more of a blues feel than some music i have heard thats sold as actual blues music.

how you can call them a joke is beyond me, as i said before i am VERY picky on music i buy & listen too. i assumed it was all hype & media marketing that made them so popular & i never played there music till i got there first album & saw there was a robert johnson tune on there & also reading the text on the inside of the CD where he dedicated the 1st lp to sonhouse that i learned that they are a proper band with genuine infulences.
Take a band like Coldplay from the uk, there shit all there media attention is from PR & marketing, there music sucks big time, they NEED media attention to sell there middle class/college indie kid style music, the white stripes DONT as the music speaks for itself.

serious go check there albumsout from the library or d/l them from some sfileshare network & have a proper listen to them, then make a judgement as i am sure you aint really heard there music to make a comment like you did.
as i said i was the same view as you but i didnt know any better, once i was educated on them i changed my mind, i think your speaking from igronence tbh

One of my blues heroes--T Model Ford

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ogKiMUvcxM

Jack white -I Liked Van Leer Rose that he produced for Loretta Lynn-- White Strips Blues influenced but lost me at Icky Thump

Generally overhyped over rated --

And for the SRV comment To paraphrase Hank Williams Junior--" iF you dont like SRV you can kiss my azz "

I have found that music is a more emotional subject than politricks or religion

For all that disagree with my views on the White Stripes....Too bad!!!

I listened to them when they first came out & discovered they were crap. I remember when he first tried lead playing...laughable.

So if a group sucks when you listen to them, why would I bother listening to them again.

Even the video someone post here......garbage.
Horrible vocals, lousy presentation....I just don't care for them. Never did & never will. I don't feel as though I'm missing anything. As for the "picky" people which like them, I say "Good for you!"

You should respect the opinion I've made for public bashing, just as I respect yours to like them.

I still say they suck & wouldn't even go to a free concert.

Tinsmith, have you listened to Ball & Biscuit? No? It's 8 minutes long, we'll wait.

I get not everyone likes the Stripes, their personality, sound, or his voice. But you can't argue with his playing in that song.
