From this past Sunday's Second Life Shoutcast. The sound from the cube is improving!
Let me know what you think.

Sounds great, Dan. I suspect that the guy in the video isn't really playing , though, especially when his hand goes through the guitar  .

That's probably what's limiting my development as a slide player.

Hi Dan: How are you? It sounds good on my mackie HR824 monitors. It has that old field recording sound to it for sure. The only suggestion I have would be to add a bit more treble to the voice and guitar Are you using just 1 mic still? If so, I might try the upper mids becausse the harp will get too shrill. I am just being nitpicky because I fight the same thing with singing/playing harp through the same mic. I found the solution. I had michael joly modify an oktava MK219. the mic cost $100 and the mod $265. It is the closest I have come to caputuring my voice and harp as they sound to my ears. It is very close to a nueman U87! You can hear the mic in action on my most recent stuff. Walter

Thanks for the tips, Walter. It's 2 mics, a Shure sm57 and an sm58, running into an Alesis Multimix board.

YOu are getting a great sound with that set up! I wish we lived closer, I would loan you my oktava to try out. Are you using one on the guitar and one on your voice/harp? If so, how far away are they from you? Isn't the recording journey a great one! It is keeping me inspired to keep playing. Cool animation on the you tube too! Walter

I'm playing in a whisper room - a 5x3.5x7 isolation booth - with the mics about 10 inches away from the guitar and my mouth. Down the road, I'm planning to add a mic preamp and some compression - the digital distortion when I get loud is pretty ugly sounding, the compression will be to take care of that.

I also have my eye on a few mics - the Shures are doing the job, but there's always room for improvement . The recording part certainly is exciting, but the live broadcasts are what's really charging my battery. I've been selling CD's in Holland and a few other countries as a result of these shows!

For a very limited time, I've posted part one of "The Black String" - and a rough edit of 'The Black String Two - Abrasion" on my Myspace Blog.

Thanks for the links. I'm tuning in on Sunday for sure.

I really need to get your CDs. I listen to your tunes on Myspace all the time, but I don't have your CDs. They would be a nice addition to my CD books for my car! :D

EDIT: I ordered Streetwise and Please & Thank You. I look forward to getting them!
