New toy day!

Postby Bournio » Wed Jun 17, 2009 9:38 pm

My next (slightly crazy) project is about to begin, don't know how well it'll go down with anyone but it'll be a learning experiance.

I've got hold of an old PA, and I'm getting Korg NanoKontrol, my plan is to use Ableton or Fruity loops and create some music...

BUT! It's not gonna be my normal electronica or punk or blues... I'm gonna combine them all, and hopefully having the controller will mean I can maintain a very free style with it all... the possibility of having 8 different tracks running along and being able to add in my guitar harmonica and singing is seeming very interesting... I've had a go but without the controller it's very hard to get a "natural" feel! I'll hopefully get some soundbites up the end of this week.

I don't intend on it being a way for me to make loads of money, I just think it'd be a surreal idea to get a set in a dance club and effectively be playing the blues....

Sounds like something you cold be playing Shoutcasts on Second Life with...although I've been effectively adopted by the "no backing tracks" acoustic tribe, there are audiences that would eat that up.

I got a "Lite" version of Ableton with something I bought a while back. Doesn't do much for blues but I've done a couple fun things with it. Loops suit my nerdiness.

Check out Zoe Keating on youtube if you like... she does a bunch of looping with a cello that is kind of mesmerizing.

Well, SL is free to join - if you have any way to get the live part of your performance online, like a USB mic or mixer, you can go from there.

Outfit could be ANYTHING - a killer robot in a fedora?

Yeah... What I'm trying to get is a mix of the dance/electronic stuff with my live parts along with it... I'm assuming I'll be able to use the controller on different tracks, if not it'll be fruity loops for me, cos I know that works, if worst comes to it, i'll get someone else in to "play" the controller...

Don't worry I'm not gonna use extreme Autotuned vocals, that's alright sometimes but I've got so much music where it just gets annoying!

Love it! It's gonna have to be a bit out there really! I knew second Life was free... but I thought if you wanted anything apart from fairly generic avatars you had to pay?

Buy it or build it.

The thing to do is get some shows and put the money you make there into developing your look.
