Anybody use Shure PG81 mics ?

Postby birddog » Thu May 21, 2009 9:23 pm

Wondering if anybody uses a Shure PG81 mic's & how they work out.
Would primarily be for acoustic guitar either live application or possibly recording.
Read some reviews, seems like a good alternative to SM81 & a heck of a lot more cost effective.

Thanks for any input

I've got a Shure PG-57, so I'm basing my comments on that. If you're plugging the mic into a club PA or a home recording rig, I don't think that you'll hear any difference between the PG and SM lines. OTOH, if you've got good ears and you're in a high end recording studio, then I think the difference will be there. Usual disclaimer: We all hear things a little differently, YMMV, etc. HTH.
