Biker set lists

Postby lorilu » Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:48 pm

Someone had asked about what to play at biker gigs. Well, I've been to some parties where the bikers were not white so to speak. As in mostly hispanic. So there were some oldies, some R&B, rock & roll and the standard George Thorogood, SRV, ZZ and blues and some latin music, really awesome to dance to. Down the street from where I'm working is this bar where black bikers hang so I am not sure what they're listening to in there. I know one black biker who is a sax player. So blues and jazz for him. Anyone else?

Throw in some Steppenwolf and maybe a little Steve Miller and you have that biker crowd eating out of your hands.

Back in the '80s bhe Australian branch of the Acgels used to pay for Canned Heat (or what was left of Canned Heat!) to come out and playu for them. A love of that kind of boogie seems to be pretty universal among bikers.

An old Philly chum is Dallas Cantland - Drummer for the Hardcore band Thorazine.

He's been riding since he was a kid.

Nice picture with that Ziljian t-shirt. Cool. This bar down the street from where I'm working in China town is the black biker hangout. I wonder what they're playing in there.

Would the Stones' "Gimme Shelter" be inappropriate? Maybe for a Hell's Angels show. :)

I got a plan. I have a new buddy at the brewery who comes in and I'll see if he thinks it would be OK if we go down there and have a beer. Don't want to start a ruckus.

Good plan - I like the way you think.
