Cyberspace Blues

Problems, how to get them, favorite songs to play, groupies, funky bar owners, etc. NO names of clubs, please.

This is turning into a regular thing.
I'll be playing at the "Not Too Hot" blues club on SL today at 2 pm pacific coast time.

Since "ol Boomy'" is down for the count, I'll be using a strange old Parlor guitar for most of todays show.

I'm intrigued. I've heard of Second Life, of course, but am sketchy as to the details.
How does it work? Do I have to buy any hard/software?
Etc.

Free to sign up and log on, but they nickel and dime you for clothes, guitars, and anything else you want to customize your Avatar.

However, I'm already showing in the plus column in their little economy. I've already decided that my long term involvement is going to hinge on my ability to cash some of that in and take the Mrs. out for dinner and drinks.

I had heard of it, but that was several years ago when the big news has that Susan Vega was going to be the first "signed artist " to do a show there.

Since I don't take her very seriously, it failed to get much of my attention. Do you have Hollywood Squares in the UK? It made me think of the has-been semi celebs on that.

This time around, Jane read an article about people making real money off of it and suggested looking into it. Now that I've had a look around, I'm intrigued by the creative possibilities.

I won't be stepping up my home recording setup to ProTools as I'd planned this season; instead, I have a mixer on order that I'm planning to use for these broadcasts.

As a budget pc user (tightwad bastard division) i found out that second life may knock you back if you dont have a good enough graphics card. I'm trying to find out if it will be expensive to upgrade enough to check out some of these shows...

Just added an Alesis Multi-mix 8 USB mixer to my setup - these shows should be getting better and better!

Very cool Dan! Could you enlighten me on how much the clubs are paying. I have been told that if you are relativly new to SL they generally start you out around 2k Linden Dollars plus tips from there to about 4K when people get to know you, have you found this to be true?

That's a close ballpark figure to what I'm seeing.

Caught Charlie O's show at Toby's.

He sounded great - the guitar came across nice and clear, and Charlie was charming as all get out.

The audience was eating it up, too.

Thanks for stopping by Lummo! And for the pic, very cool. I'll see you at your shows. I am going to work on the double bill for you and I. It would be cool to do a show together from both ends of the country!

Caught Dan last Friday at his gig at Not to Hot Blues Club. He did a great job and is a masterful guitar player. When I play I just get up there and bang on the guitar, Dan actually plays the thing. He played some really cool tunes with minor chords and everything, and sounded great on his playing and singing. I am so new at this solo stuff I'm lucky to just get through a show. I always had partners who could sing play with me so they could sing and not me, I've never liked my singing voice that much. So for me to do a show truly solo is quite a feat for me. This second life thing is pretty cool, I never would have gone out there solo in the real world! I am learning alot. :D
