How to?

Since it appears that I will need to learn to transcribe music to tabs how does one do it, from a recording and not sheet music? Is there any instructional books or software that will make this easier? There are several great guitar parts on a lot of the cds’ that I have and I’d like to learn to play them.

Well, you'd have to figure out how to play the piece fist - and then write the Tabs based on your understanding of where to put your fingies.

I did not know if there was any software that can isolate the guitar parts on a cd to help with figuring out how to play it.

There are now a number of programs to let you slow down a piece without changing its pitch (unless you want to) to make it easier to figure out. The first was "The Amazing Slow Downer," from Roni Software.

There are also bits of software around to turn (simple) mp3 tracks into midi, ("Amazing Midi" is one, I seem to recall) which can then be "read" by such as GuitarPro 5 and PowerTab, leaving you with a tab.

Picked up a copy of SlowGold it seems to be a pretty good program to slow the track down and ajust the pitch to figure out the song. this will defiantly take awhile. I guess if it was easy there would be a whole lot more people playing the blues.
