New gig for me

Postby stratman_27 » Thu Nov 15, 2007 2:19 pm

Me and my friend from work, who was the bass player in my last band have landed a coffeehouse gig for the Friday after Thanksgiving. It will be the first time in public for me doing an acoustic gig. We're doing mostly blues tunes with a couple unplugged classic rock tunes. I think we're going to throw in a couple bluegrass numbers too. Should make for an interesting show. I should have both a video and audio recording as were planning on recording the show for a promo CD. Cross your fingers for us as this gig could lead to several others at local restaurants and bars and hopefully some private parties. I love playing private parties, you get paid well, eat well, and well you just never know what might happen in the privacy of someones home.

Awright Stratman! Have fun with that coffeehouse gig. I was around during the big coffeehouse phase of the 60's, having been introduced to them by my older sister who was in college in Minneapolis,Minnesota, starting in '67. I missed the beatnik part of the trend, and just caught the end of the folk part, before the hippy era began to dominate. I loved listening to local performers in the coffeehouses, and I later loved playing in those places. You get a different crowd there.

Small crowd but our first coffeehouse gig went rather well. We were asked to pick some dates to come back.
