Audition tomorrow

Postby 1four5 » Sat Sep 15, 2007 1:25 am

Sorry it's not blues, but our biggest chance yet. Tomorrow Tim3Finger and me and our band are going to audition at a rather high profile local western dinner theater. They are looking for a house band and Sunday guest bands. I don't see a snowballs chance...but you never know, and at least we can say we tried. They advertised in the newspaper yesterday, and we called and got a 30 minute time slot to give it all we got. Should be fun :D
Even if tomorrow is a bust, we've got a Fall festival street dance coming up in a couple weeks...it's gonna be my first flatbed experience. We're moving up in the world 8)

Wow! Thanks again you'all, I just got home and we had a BLAST! :D We met over at our lead guitar players house this morning and practiced for 3 hours, then drove out to the theater and played our hearts out! It went really good, and we played extreamly well. Now I know what it feels like on one of them talent TV shows...we had a panel of the place's buisness manager, and the millionair owner's wife. We played our songs and they interviewed each of us a little between the songs. I can't think of anything negitive, but on the positive side, we closed with the guys favorite song. He asked...and we lucked out because it's a song we play a lot, and we even got him tapping his feet and singing (Tumbeling Tumbleweeds). If we came with the kind of music they are looking for, we just might have a shot.

Heck yeah... musically speeking, I've lived a very sheltered life. The band just turned 2 years old, and it's the only band I've ever been in. We were all friends even before myself and Tim3finger ever picked up instruments, and we've been co workers for over 20 years. None of this was ever really planned, it just sort of happend because we jammed all the time, and one day we got asked to do a party and we made up a name and the rest followed.

Flatbed? You mean like in a parade?
Geez, BRACE YOURSELF. I mean, keep your legs apart and be ready to get bowled over by another band member who didn't read this post. I played one of those when I was 17.. fun, but pretty challenging.

Just got home and I'm beat and we had a RIOT. There was 5 of us (with full drum kit) on the single flat bed and space was a premium, but we managed and played our hearts out. We ended up playing just 2 sets, one was an hour long and the second set was 2 hours long. they was dancing and we were having so much fun we didn't take our second break. Kind of cool, we got another gig out of it too 8) ...time for bed... 8)

Thanks Lefty!
I'm still floating on a cloud after last night! It's really heart warming to know we did good, and people liked our stuff enough to ask for business cards etc. 8)

Oh yeah, and there is an update on the audition mentioned above: We still haven't heard anything. The reason they held the auditions is because the ownership of the place is changing hands, and last we heard, there was some litigation snafoo in the sale of the place. They were wanting to be up and running by October, but that's been pushed back...so the waiting continues...
