Exercise is really important. Gotta do something to burn up what you've got stored up, cutting back on what you're taking in isn't enough by itself.

 my sons left me a joe weilder weight machine they have had for years, and I musta have moved this thing 100 times since they have left the nest, thats exercies alone!! anyway I forced myself to start using it last night, I did some butterflies and leg lifts and curls, for about 30 mins, took a shower and hit the bed, I felt as if I slept better last night, Iam going to search the web today as see if I can find info on this machine and what exercises I should do on it, and how often, I heard every other day.

Since I've been off work, my muscle tone has deteriorated to the level of wet elastic. I'm starting to be more active as the right leg improves, but no 100 metres yet, and I doubt if I'll ever have that iron hard six pack of my early 20s ever again.

The leg: went to the hospital yesterday, specialist says they will leave the iron bar in place, but the bottom two locating screws will be taken out in about three months time, as they are starting to impinge on soft tissue as I get more active.

My only real worry now is a modern Burke & Hare will murder me for the scrap value of my leg, the "iron bar" is some sort of titanium alloy.

I fell off, racing last year at a charity event. Small bike, low speed, big torsional break of lower right tibia. Odd the things that run through your head at the time, I'm lying there and it occurred to me "At least I'm not in Africa". Is this some sort of defence mechanism we have, to maintain internal morale?

One thing, if the hallucinations and inability to function I had are a typical part of morphine use, I don't want any ever again except for extreme pain control.

Still not walking quite straight, but getting there. It's been interesting having all this time off work, been doing a lot of thinking about what to do for my crust when I'm shoved back out into the Big Bad World.

I was rather indiscreet with a huge binge on (American) Chinese food yesterday at lunch. Ate a good part of a bag of Cheetos for supper. (With some carrots and a Milky Way bar. Gotta have a balanced diet.) My wife scolded me and told me not to weigh this morning, she'd watch me and make sure I behaved today. I was down again this morning, though, to 221.0#.
