Back in the game

Played a 45 minute set at a festival on the weekend, my first proper gig in more than a year. Moving citys and jobs, settling down with the better half and the rest had left it's toll on my musical aspirations. The set went down really well with the crowd and has left me feeling more confident about my music than ever before. I'm off OS in a few weeks but when I get back it looks like I'll be hustling up a few gigs and trying my luck on the scene.[/img]

Nice pic,J-Ro! I'm glad you jumped back into the water; it's a good thing to use the talents you have---for your own darn mental health if nothin' else, but certainly for the benefit of others.

What was the FESTIVAL?
What did you play?
When are you going to get down to Tassie?

It was just a little festival at a lavender farm in the Yarra Valley, a 45 minute drive out of Melbourne. About 300 people there which is small for a festival but certainly the biggest audience I've ever played for.

My set? Solo slide stuff. Mostly my own tunes, a few improvised instrumentals, 1 Robert Johnson song and a dancy version of "Boogie Chillen" as an up-tempo closer. People seemed to dig it.

Tassie? Hopefully soon. I'm off overseas in a week's time and won't be back to late April but after that the better half and I will be looking for a domestic holiday and Tassie is at the top of the wish list. It'd be great to finally meet you.

Peavine...glad it's coming along for you. I myself have been having a bit of trouble lining up gigs here in Las Vegas. Everything is either the "new country" (hah...what a joke) death metal or rap. So many bands and artists that many venues don't pay. Just couple blues venues and those are sewn up by long time locals. Keep us posted on the gigs!! Cheers.

ACK! The first of the new gigs is tonight and I'm trying to make it through the day at work while my stomach is busy doing somersaults...
