Postby Minimalist777 » Wed Jul 19, 2006 2:00 pm

Hi, I am a high school student who has recently discovered the blues, my main listening interests are metal, and all sorts of weird avant -garde stuff (Merzbow, Free Jazz, Drone) Im looking forward to learning much about blues and expanding my appreciation for it. Currently my favorite blues artists are: Albert King, Rev. Gary Davis and Robert Johnson.

welcome to the blues.

to quote ole Muddy "the blues had a baby and they done named it rock and roll"

to quote me:

Rock and roll had a baby and they done named it heavy metal.

slow down some of those metal licks to about 80 BPM and youll hear some increadible blues.

the first time i discovered that was with the lead to Ironman. Tony was playing to fast me me to catch with my ears and i had no idea what he was doing.

so when i slowed it down i heard the most amazing blues riffs. and I said ahhhh thats what hes doing lol

Yeah, especially traditional doom metal is very blues based.
