Hello all....

Postby bow » Wed Feb 04, 2004 12:55 pm

Just wanted to post a Howdy!

My Name is Bow..

I live in Houston, TX..
Been playing for a while now... I still suck...

I am returning to the Blues music after a time of trying to place more guitar music with less feeling.

After some long hard thinking and a proding by my wife, I have decided to come home to the Blues...

Great forum!

Welcome Bow,

I thought I must be reading my own post when I read this line: "Been playing for a while now... I still suck..." You must have heard me play!

Ha! Dig it! LOL

Well, being the new guy I will go for the "Baptism By Fire" approach....

If anyone wants to check out some of my Tunage....

Here is a couple...
First:

I decided to do a Satch cover... Now I believe if Joe Satriani drank a couple bottles of Night Train... he might do Big Bad Moon like this...

Next:

After doing that one, I decide to do some old pre-WW2 Blues... I tried to give it that 78 rpm LP feel as much as I could...
This is a Scrapper Blackwell tune called "Bad Liquor Blues". I had never heard the tune before recording it, I just read the lyrics and went for it...

Comments are welcome!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Feb-04-04 AT 10:41 AM (EST)]Thanks BOZ!

The LP Effect...

I could Tell you, But then I'd Have to....

OK... I'll share...

I record with Cool Edit Pro

I dug around the internet for a sample of that noise... no luck...

But I found this site: http://www.memorylanedigital.com/defaul ... =2524&lp=5

Downloaded LP Album (33 1/3)(very noisy) Sample and it had about 2 seconds of the needle/vinyl noise at the beginning.

I loaded it into Cool Edit Pro, deleted tht rest of the song, then looped that noise about 100 times... LOL

I guess it worked! LOL

Thanks for listening

Hey Bow
Welcome. I'm a newbie here too.
Seeing as you are from Houston, do you know of Wally Gator?
I know him from the Line6 Forum. Haven't seen him live, but I hear he puts on quite a show, plays slide with anything and everything including half full beer bottles, chairs and anything else they throw at him.
