Been here a while, but was too shy

Postby podmo » Tue Jan 28, 2003 11:25 pm

Hi, all:

I am 46, an ER doc in Ohio, with a wife, two daughters and a mortgage. I fell in love with acoustic slide guitar as a 13-or-so year-old after hearing Dwayne Allman play on Tom Tarlton's "Please Be With Me" in the late 60's. I have no reason to have the blues. Life has been kind to me. But I love the music just the same, particularly when played on a resonator, and particularly when the resonator is steel-bodied. I began playing about 2 years ago, and I need a LOT of work. This forum has been a big help in that regard. It is nice to be here.

Hello Pod,
what a nice hello you posted...if I wake up in ER I hope that the attending team are as tuned in as you are.

Post often and when you get a reply ....refer frequently to that psych option you took ...!

arf,
Lovat.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Jan-28-03 AT 06:46 PM (EST)]Podmo-

Welcome to the Bigroad, lots of helpful folks 'round here. With the addition of an ER Doc, our medical team is nearly complete. Richochet is a cardiologist and HashTaff a radiologist. (As H'Dog indicated, many others consider themselves to be amateur psychologists!)

Hiya Podmo, welcome to the circus. How did you come up with "podmo" by the way?

Welcome to the Big Road Podmo. Have fun and we're glad you came in out of the cold. Anyone mentioning Duane Allman gets a vote from me. Post often and have fun!

Hey Podmo, great to have you here!

I'm just a small town family doc. Work on the faculty of the med school at East Tennessee State University teaching residents and medical students for the last 16+ years. Overall I haven't had much to complain about either, but I love the blues too!

Hi Podmo, and welcome....Duane Allman's playing on "Please be with me" was my awakening call to acoustic slide also!

Happy Slidin'

A big Welcome to ya, podmo. Great to have ya with us! An ER doc could come in handy around me with my guitar. When I play, I've been known to cause people some severe pain!

It might be handier if I was a vet--I have two cats that act like I'm torturing them when I play (yowling, arched-back contortions, running under the bed, etc.)
