Abit about me

Postby grzz51 » Fri Jun 28, 2002 3:08 am

Hi, I'm 54 y/o and have been playing since I was 17. I play all types of music but have loved blues since before I knew what it was. I play Strats mainly...have 2 of em... an Epiphone SG and a Tele. My amp is a Blonde Blues Deluxe. I've been rehabilitating a broken left wrist since Feb and it's slow going right now..... I live in Helena Arkansas right on the Mississippi River. I'd love to hear from anyone...especially if you are close enough to get together and play and swap stories.....

Welcome, grzz!

I'm a bit far from you for jamming, in Bristol, Tennessee on the Virginia line at the northeastern tip of Tennessee.

I don't know how many of us on here are rehabbers from some kind of hand or arm injury, but it's a bunch! (I just about tore my right arm off a little over 2 years ago, myself.) Don't know if that's a blues thing, or just a fluke of the site. :)

Hi Ricochet, I appreciate the good thoughts... I sure need them... It's been dissappointing sometimes I can assure you, but I'm working as hard as I can.... The bar chords are something else though..... If it's a Blues thang.I guess I fit right in.

Thanks for the encouraging words jesse, I've been trying to do some simple bar chords and the pain is intense. I guess that will pass with time. I've been in rehab for about 6 weeks and the therapist gives me a good outlook on recovery.... maybe I'm to impatient....lol...

Hang in there, bro. The most intense pain I've ever experienced was from stretching my shoulder in P.T. (And that while on heavy-duty narcotics, for a good while.) But it pays off if you stick to it. :7

Hey Richocet, The only thing that comes to mind that was close to the pain was the kidney stone I had about 7 or 8 years ago. It took two shots of a wonderful drug called morphine to kill that pain..... I can understand how someone might get hooked on that stuff....

Yep. If it hadn't've been for the narcs, I don't think I could've ever rehabbed back to the level of function I currently enjoy. Let me stretch further before being limited by the indescribable pain.

Haven't ever had a kidney stone. Hope I never do!

They say a kidney stone is the closest pain to having a baby a guy can experience. If that's so........my hat's off to all women......

I've been a family doc for almost 20 years. Whenever I find out a woman has had both kidney stones and babies, I ask her which hurt worse. Haven't yet had one tell me the baby hurt worse.

Hi Blind Egg, I've thought about playing lap "ala Jeff Healey", but I want to get back to regular playing. I can do regular single note stuff pretty good....just having trouble playing off a bar chord. I broke my wrist on Feb 21st and have been in rehab for about 6weeks...The orthopedic Dr told me that it might take as long as a year till it gets back to normal or as normal as it'll ever be. I'm sure not gonna give up, I'll find a way no matter what!

You may still be improving even longer than that, grzz.

Or both! :7

(Similarly situated, I think I could take the heat of being accused of "selling out.") ;)
