'Cluck, cluck, cluck'

I knew I'd scare you all off being compared to 'The King!'

A huge sweaty man in a rhinestone costume, turning himself inside out on the crapper, whilst eating a deep-fried peanut-butter and lard sandwich?
That king?

"The King of the Delta Blues?" "The King of the Slide Guitar?"

I've got their records already.

To me playing guitar isn't a competitive sport.

It's for FUN and fun alone.

As friend of mine says playing in front of people is the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

A lot of people were persuaded, cajoled - even bullied, and harassed, albeit gently - into submitting stuff to this.

Phrases like "I don't think I'm good enough...", or "I'm only a beginner...", etc., were met with responses like, "Don't worry - it's not a competition... Just a bit of fun..."

And as it was all done in public view, refusal was an eventual non-option, and would have been embarassing.

I have personal knowledge of at least two tracks on the cd submitted sneakily, "behind the back" of the very shy members concerned, with suitable amelioration and pacification (mainly alcoholic) being made after the fact.

Of course, we will all have opinions; we will all prefer one style or song to another, we will all make comparisons...

But, if these brave people (yes, brave - forget 'egos': it takes a helluva lot to expose yourself like this) are to be even threatened with having their sporting gestures turned into some kind of public grading exercise, I shall withdraw permission for my work to be used or distributed as part of the collection.

Stumblin': Archaeology & old blues. . ? Is there a connection there? What kind of archaeology, other than musical? I've stumbled into a bit of an interest there, mainly thru Old Testament Bible Study, but it's superficial. I do subscribe to Biblical Archaeology though, which right now is a fairly interesting rag cuz' of a war over a recent "discovery" of a thing called the James Ossuary. ( The ranking thing is over now, isn't it?)
