Changing Forum Software week of May 7

Postby pappyj » Wed May 03, 2006 9:34 pm

I'm not sure the exact schedule yet, but sometime next week we will be changing over to the new forum software. The programmer has been hard at work figuring ways to transfer all of the old forum information, user information, posts and archives over so hopefully we will not lose anything. We will try to make the transition as seamless as possible, but expect some glitches. We'll work them out as soon as we can, but if a problem is not resolved shortly it may be that we don't know about it. Send any ongoing problems to me at coast2coastmusic AT yahoo DOT com. You can also expect the whole forum to be offline for some period of time, hopefully not too long. With the new software we will be able to offer some enhancements of the Big Road Blues experience and will work in the changes once the forums are back up and running well.

Regards,

Just curious, Pappy - will the graphic look of the forum be one of the things changing? I've grown sort of fond of stuff like

Anyway, though, thanks for the work that's being done to keep things moving along.

I look forward to it, and dread it, all at the same time.

Thanks for all your work on this site Pappy. I'm going to have to figure out something else to order from you real soon.

"I never did like free loaders"... comin' from the car business, I can tell you that people tend to like "free loaners" more than free loaders.

We will try to keep the look and feel of this board on the new one, but I don't yet have a handle on all of the specific features that will or will not be available. Stay tuned . . . . .

Hey, earlier this afternoon I posted #1. Now I'm up to 1813. Fast typing, huh? :D

Posts have been going to the bottom of the fora, but I just saw the May Trivia go back to the top after I replied, so that seems to be getting straightened out, too.

I couldn't get logged on at first, but I'd changed my password not too long ago and the old one worked, so if anybody's shut out and has changed it lately they might try the same.

Thanks, Pappy!
