Is it just me?

Postby badfinger » Mon Jan 06, 2003 2:39 pm

Hi, all.

Accepting that, inter alia, Ric will readily agree that I'm a grumpy old bugger at times, is it just me what gets annoyed when I click on the "Welcome to our newest member" link, only to find no information?

At least whence the "new member" hails would be something.

I'm with you, Bf -

Some folks never fill out a profile page at all, ever. Like you, I often click on the new member feature to find nothing.

Pappy - What about making filling out a profile page a necessity to register; at the very least, name, gender and location as required fields? It could then be voluntary to post additional personal info such as vocation, hobbies or email or web addresses. Thanks.

I've checked in the admin interface and there does not seem to be any way to chage that there, so it must be a programing thing - and I'm no programer! I also think that some people may be uncomfortable revealing something things themselves to a bunch of strangers and therefore not register at all if forced to make their information public. Personally I'd rather see as many users as possible so would rather put as little in their way as we can. Mostly registration is to keep out spammers anyway. Hopefully new users will make a post and let us know about themselves.

Certainly don't want to disagree with you, bf.

Haven't been clicking on those links lately, but I do enjoy knowing a bit about the other folks I'm conversing with here. Fortunately, many if not most folks do post some sort of an introduction on the "About Me" (or whatever it's called, I'm getting old and forgetful) forum.

(I would add a :), but I know it annoys you so I won't.)
