"MARK ALL"/"READ NEW"

Postby badfinger » Tue Sep 10, 2002 11:34 am

Hi, Doc.

Call me a careless bugger, but I keep hitting the 'Mark All' button when I'm aiming for the 'Read New' in the Lobby. Someone else mentioned this fairly recently (?).

Any chance of separating them, say, putting the @Mark All' button over to the right?

Cheers

I do not even see this function or icon anywhere on the page.

Hey Chuckles, on the main forum page http://www.bigroadblues.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi you'll see these functions listed across the page... are you entering the site from the main page http://www.bigroadblues.com/ or jumping straight into the threads page? Coming in through the back door as it were....

I haven't seen the "Mark All"/"Read New" icons for many moons, either.

I use them every time--and sometimes hit the "mark all" instead of the "read new," making me very frustrated.

I must say, there are many things going on with puters that I just don't understand...

I wish I could find 'em, because folders stay highlighted long after I've seen the "new" stuff in 'em. Those icons just aren't there anymore. Something funky's definitely going on that some people are seeing them and others don't. A browser issue, perhaps.

I get "Read New", but I don't get "Mark All".
Also, as Rico said, folders remain coloured yellow sometimes even into the next day after I've read the posts. Clearing my browser cache, pressing F5 etc doesn't change them either. But when I delete all my cookies, I get all of them yellow and I have to go into my inbox to stop old messages from appearing as new.
Still, none of these things really bother me, I just check the date & time of the allegedly "new" posts and move on...

OK, I've figured this out. You have to go in the user menu options, select "Preferences, and click "Yes" to the Time Stamp Feature to be able to mark things read. Otherwise you get stuff dated since the last time you were on the board with that particular browser on that particular computer.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Mar-03-04 AT 04:58 AM (EST)]...also, in re my original post to this thread, depending on how your browser loads the 'lobby' window, the relative dimensions will be shifted. For example, if you have your 'Favourites/Bookmarks' sidebar open, the buttons don't initially appear in their proper position, and guess where the "Read New" button sits... Right over the "Mark All" link! QED for my problem.
