Would it be possible to have a "Best of ____", where the best tap sites could be listed, or the best books, or any of the 101 different things the new members keep asking about?

Hi Truck Driver
Where are you going to get these lists with "The best of...".
I never trust such lists. I don't know who makes them and what criteria has been used. I think such lists are compiled by asking 1000 or 5000 people their opinion about something, take a percentage and made into a list.

Bruneau,
I think 'Driver meant for us to recommend "The Best...(whatever)" as we have individually found it.

Meanwhile, "I think such lists are compiled by asking 1000 or 5000 people their opinion about something..." seems to be the way we over here just elected our government for the next 5 years.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON May-13-05 AT 05:24 PM (EST)]There are certain resource materials that are constantly being recommended - and debated - in response to newcomer's question. Like the Brozman videos.

And certain resources that could do with recommendation to new players - Like the Stephan Grossman books.

A recommended resource list - that suggests stuff for those who have already looked at the fine beginners material on this site - could be nice.

With a Blues Bibliography - just a list of all the stuff out there.

I like it.

I was thinking that a poll could be taken, but could the membership be trusted? If you only own 1 harmonica, I don't know if your opinion on the Marine Band in key of "C" means alot, or your opinion on a book, if you have only read 1 blues book, means alot. My guess this would really be a waste of time, plz forget I said anything...:-(

Truck Driver, you've put your finger on why I have little if any use for any of the gear review sites like Harmony Central. They're chock full of useless trash and plain disinformation.

And I'll add that IMO it's not just the new guys with their first piece of gear who post the bogus stuff. Some of the ones who think they've been around and know it all are the farthest off base.

The only "Best" I can recommend is,,,,,,

The Best Blues Forum is right here at the BRB.

All Together now,,,,,"We're #1 !!!"
We're #1 !!

Once more with feeling,,,,,,,,"We're #1 !!"

I gotta get off this Computer and go to a gig.

It's too damn early to be playing the Blues,,,,LOL !!

and Ric is very right about Harmony-Central.
Watch out for those guys.

Too early? I'm on my way to a Farmers Market in 10 minutes - and it's 3 hours earlier here.

I think I misunderstood the "Don't quit your dayjob " thing entirely.

Our government is a kingdom, I don't mind, but maybe we have to choose our king like you choose your president.LOL
