BRB Trivia- February 2006

Postby bosco » Wed Feb 01, 2006 4:15 pm

Wow, time flies...doesn't seem possible that it was over FOUR years ago that I found the BigRoad. A hearty thanks to all of you who make this site what it is; I've started an operating expenses thread in the "Suggestions" forum, please take the time to read it.

Despite roughly 10 days of down time, when the board crashed and was moved to another server, the January trivia still clocked in at a healthy 6 pages of posts. Thanks to all who participated!

DC Blues is up first this month. Let 'er fly bro.

Yeah, it was four years for me a few days ago, too.

I thought I only had half of the answer. After last week I'm tempted to ask "Who is the best bartender on Beale St.?" but that would be to subjective and not really a blues question. Plus, most of you have probably never met her. :)

I'll try to come up with one soon.

This movie about coal miners trying to form a union featured one of the best living blues harp players in a small role. His playing is also on the soundtrack. Name the musician and the movie.

That's it. After I posted the question I wondered if I had posted it before. I hope not. Your turn.

Thanx DC! I don't remember ever see'n that question before!

An easy one:
This California boy born a lefty learned right hand guitar at an early age. His early influences were gospel, Motown and R&B which lead him to the emotionally charged acoustic sounds of the deep south. Charlie Patton was a biggy to this guy along with a host of greats such as Son House, RJ and the likes and then on to BBQ Bob and Blind Willie McTell. Now add some Elmore James, Howlin Wolf, Muddy and Albert King and whatta ya get.....
This young cat plays a style that rocks the house and scares some folks to half to death! Who he be?
