Fender 75

Postby julio1958 » Fri Mar 03, 2006 10:47 pm

One of my Guitar buds offered to sell me his 1972 Fender 75 watt tube amp, origionally it was only gonna be a couple of hundred bucks, but he took it into the local shop and had a minor repair done, and they convinced him that it's worth $600 !, Is it ?, and has anyone played thru one out here ?.

Thx Boys..........Julio

I just did some research and fould out this amp was only made from 1980-1982, I'm thinkin the dude who works at the music store who told him it was worth $600 bones should buy it. I'll stick to mic'n up my little old gibson.

Julio-

You never told us what model the amp was. Anything made by Fender in the 70s would have a silver face control panel. It sounds like you desribed the "Riviera" series, made in 80-82 where Fender sought to revive the renowned black face design, originally made from 64-67.

Also, I've never heard of an amp from Fender with 75 tube watts...I think you got bad info there as well. Guess you decided against it anyway, so this is all a moot discussion.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON Mar-06-06 AT 08:35 PM (EST)]Yup, don't think there were any made in '72. Seems to be an 80's thing!

Later,it's time to make some music

I did my checking on the fender website, it was called " Fender 75 ", and was in fact only made in the eary 80's for 2 years, it said something on the specs to the fact..15 watt low, and 75 watt high ?. To rich for my blood anyhow, my 15 watt 1962 Gibson does a great job , so ther I stay boys.
