Those National Tricone Clips I Promised

Postby JakeFirebirdV » Thu Sep 06, 2012 9:40 pm

Since i couldn't find a sound comparison on these Hot Rods against the stock OE cones in my 2004 Style One tricone, I went ahead and changed them out.
I'm borrowing a snippet of somebody's cover tune 'Goin' Fishin' and am intentionally 'droning' the chords so you can hear the subtle differences if any. I've already made up my mind .. whadda you guys think?

OK you guys - sorry... I just got a message saying "the extension mp3 is not allowed" . Are we not allowed to post sound clips here???
Go to my web site http//:TheHouseWreckerz.com if ya wanna hear them.

Well Jake, the original cones seem to have a more mellow and full sound to me. The hot rods seem brighter and harsher. I think I would stick with the originals. Which ones have you settled on?

ps... I'll settle for either set, got to be an upgrade for my old johnson tricone. :D

Hey Joe ... I've easily settled on the stock OE cones. They sound more 'gritty' ... the way a Tricone should sound in my ears.
If I was a rich man, I'd buy another Style One (baritone this time) because the 'upgrades' already come in the newer ones - 2009 & up?? (me thinks).
I'm gonna hang on to the 'hot rods' for awhile .. different moods .. you know, you're a musician

As far as posting sound clips on this site, I'll just stick with my own site. Thanks folks!
