Need To Replace a Jack Plate

Postby Bant's Bluz » Thu Jun 14, 2012 11:46 am

I need to replace the jack plate on a guitar. The plate I' putting on is a Les Paul style. Not having done this before, it appears that I need to take out the screws on the existing plate, remove the nut holding the plate and the reassemble in reverse order. Does this sound logical, or????????????????

That's it in a "nutshell". Just be careful as there may or may not be a lot of slack in the wiring.

That's it. I would recommend getting a metal one. Worth the extra couple bucks because it will never crack.

Thanks for the responses. Left, it will be a metal plate, which is to replace the cracked plastic on.

The only downfall with the metal plate is the horrendous sound it makes when your cable tip hits it. Nothing turning down the volume on the amp won't fix, though.

Yeah, somehow never seems to happen that way round does it. It's always crackle-pop-ow-damn! :)
