Whatever happened to Shuggie Otis

I was listening to one of my favorite CD's with him and Etta James and man he was one of the most tasteful players ever. I guess he just started too young and burned out.

Mebbe he's been makin' an actual livin' playin' in Europe somewhere.. I'm serious. I used to listen to him all the time years ago, but that was IT.

I had a Shuggie Otis album when I was about fourteen. I played it all the time. Great songwriting, vocals, guitar work and arrangement. I haven't thought about him for a long time but I think the album is still in my collection somewhere. I hope I can find it. I remember that his father was Johnny Otis and if I remember correctly, he played a number of instruments on the album, although I may have that wrong.

Well, my pals Google and Wikipedia say that he's alive and well.

Wikipedia even had this to say

"Recently, Otis was heard in an exclusive radio interview claiming his extremely long-awaited fourth album (as yet untitled) will be released sometime in 2012 on his own recording label"
