Unknown Cover for Robert Johnson's "Crossroads"

Hey guys, I'm new here and am a big fan of Blues (especially the prewar era). I have a question which I've been trying to figure out for a long time, and since you guys are much bigger experts than I am, you might actually know the answer to this one:
There have been many covers for Robert Johnson's "Crossroads" throughout the years. A while ago I came a cross the following cover (at the bottom). Unfortunately the only part that is available is the beginning. This excerpt was taken from a song which was released by an independent North Carolina Hip Hop group back in 1997. This version of the Crossroads cover is played at the beginning of the song at which point the group starts rapping over a completely different beat. At first I thought the group just brought in a random singer to perform that bit of the Crossroads song, but after listening carefully you can clearly hear the drum sticks in the background preparing to perform, which means this excerpt was taken from a live performance. I've tried to figure out who performs this version of Crossroads for ages with no luck, so if any of you guys has a clue, please let me know.
For the record: The drums that you hear beginning to play at the end of the clip is from the Hip Hop song which kicks in right after, not from the "Crossroads" cover. No other clues are given throughout the song or in the album cover.
Any help is truly appreciated.
