Which one is heavier?

A steel or a bell brass bodied import resonator?

I know some of you guys have(or have had) both.

I have both, and the brass is by far heavier.

Brass is a much weaker metal than steel, so you need a lot more of it.

Bell brass is AKA cast bronze which as I recall is about as brittle as metal can get.

I cant see a thin body taking any kind of a hit without breaking.

I learned a long time ago to do my own research so that's why I didn't take this guys advice as gospel.

I DID however, go ahead and buy the Regal Polychrome Duolian that I was asking him about.

For $200, I dont care if it weighs 50lbs!

Brass is softer and has a more mellow quality. That's why it and it's close relative bronze have been used to make all sorts of bells in many cultures.
Also if you live on the edge of the Pacific ocean as I do, the joints ain't going to rust out if the insides aren't well plated with Nickel.
I had an Epiphone steel guitar once which was chromium plated.
The inside started rusting out in just a few months by the beach.
Can't see to many problem once you get 50 or so Kms from the beach though.
Could be great for cooling down the hot heads in Tucson, Arizona, but once again brass could be better with it's more mellow sound.

Thats good info since I'm about 12 miles from the ATLANTIC ocean which I'm sure is just as salty.

I now have two brass ones and I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a steel body that some guy is practically giving away.

I'll sit down and give both kinds an eval and then sell off what I don't want/need.
