Just couldn't help it

Postby birddog » Sun Aug 29, 2010 1:59 am

I was at Elderly yesterday, once I got done looking at it and wiping the drool off my shirt. Plugged in for about 5 minutes, and was impressed but with 2 other young shredders in the room I could only take so much. You can tell students are back on campus.
So I was thinking, about another week and it will be 3 months without a smoke, that money I'm saving should reward me for my accomplishment.
This came home with me, used Limited Edition Blues Jr.

Beautiful. So tell us, BD: did it sound as good at home? What are you playing through it?

Yeah, I can see how you could lust after a thing like that. It'll look and sound great... good harp rig. I've never been able to get myself to spend more for Fender's custom look stuff, even though I admire it. It's funny how people are though: I've got a cheap Epiphone Valve Standard for harp that sounds great but people comment on the looks of it all the time. They think it's some vintage Gretsch Valco or sumpin'. I see it as a cheaply constructed Chinese amp with crappy "Tolex" -- poorly glued-- with a cheap "straw" grill and a plastic emblem, that happens to sound great. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/document?doc_id=99539

I have the Epi VJ head and cab, and I see it the same way. My drummer friend thought it looked awesome.

Well only had a short timer to plugin with not my first choice so no opinion on that yet.
Wife just had carpel tunnel surgery on 2nd hand in 3 weeks so I've been pre-ocupied being a third hand.
This weekend should be better to give a workout so I'll give a full report.

Considering the amp was about half of what I'd have spent in 3 months on smoking its a deal ($385) and not a mark on it so I can't tell its used. If I don't fall in love with the sound, I figure I'd certainly be able to get $350.00 back nout of it and consider that a rental fee. I think the first buyer took the bigger hit on it myself.
