Stormy Monday - slide guitar

Postby kirk » Thu Jul 08, 2010 12:26 am

Hi, all, it's been a long while since I've dropped in here. Nice to see it's all still happening.

I did a new slide in dropped D tuning movie I thought some of you may enjoy. Here it is:

Really nice version of the song. Sounds great. What is your signal chain? Your tone is fantastic as was the performance...Delta

Believe it or not, I plug myself into a little Digitech RP100, one of those little amp modelers. There are hundreds of awful settings but one of them is passable ... #3. I then go into a M-Audio interface and into Adobe Audition where I add a tiny bit of mids and a touch of reverb.

Live, I'd go through my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and get pretty much the same sound.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

Beautiful playing Kirk I'm still listening to it while posting!!
A couple of questions. How did you get the nice sound? Guitar? Tuning? Effects?
I was thinking of buying an electric LP but maybe I should go the Strat way?

Very nicely done Kirk.
Great sound and I'm gonna have to watch for more of your stuff.
You should come around more often  and consider maybe a youtube slide lesson or two.

Haven't watched yet, but if it's anything like the other things of Kirk's I've listened to over the years,

'Ability gained through years of playing' springs to mind.

Well worth the second post on this. I think you'd fit in with Duanne and Dickey on this one.

Kirk, one thing I love about your playing is you're clean. Technique second to none, and that takes nothing away from heart either.

I whole heartedly agree. Great playing.
I might try to copy you on my reso when I get home from work tonight!
Your playing always rekindles my interest in slide. Well done.

Sounds great! Amazing tone and your phrasing is stellar. I've never tried sliding in drop D, but I may have a go at it here in a little while!
