good overdrive channel on Fender amp?

Postby rossfloss » Thu Jun 10, 2010 3:56 am

I was curious what Fender amps people have used that have that classic rich Fender clean tone but also have a good Overdrive channel. I know many Fender amps do not have notably good overdrive channels but I'm sure some do.
I do know the new Fender Super-Sonic is said to have an excellent drive channel.

I have a couple of tweed clones, both Clarks. 5F1 and a 5E3. Nicely clean till about 3 and then start to break up nicely after that. Not alot of headroom at all. Probably the best of both worlds is a Blackface Deluxe and then a Silverface. Creamy as hell and when you back off on the guitar volume, heaps of chiminess. As far as channel switching Fenders go....I haven't heard many amps of any make that actually do it well and still sound killer.

is that steve clark of sligo amps? steve built me a '59 bassman modded for harp that sounds like a million bucks esp with normal and overdrive channels bridged.
