The slide holder that Johhny Hiland

Postby frankenstrat2 » Thu Feb 12, 2004 8:39 pm

I'd love to find a device to hold my slide(s) on the pickguard of my guitar like the one Johnny Hiland uses:
http://www.johnnyhiland.com/
I remember seeing another one that went on the back of the headstock.
Anybody got any info, links, etc?
Thanks
Barry

I was using one of those for a while...then I realised that, generally, if I'm playing guitar, the slide is on my finger...and if I'm not, it's safer in my pocket...

Safer for whom?
LOL.
I've been using that Dunlop combination pick holder slide holder thing, but I'd rather have the slide on the guitar.
I play slide alot, but not exclusively.
I had seen a holder somewhere that attaches to the back of the headstock, but I can't find it.
Johnny's design seems like a good second choice.
I'm mostly using a brass slide, so I don't worry too much about breaking it. I keep my nice glass ones at home, out of harm's way.

Well, safer in the sense of I'm lees likely to lose or break a slide...I've used glass and metal slides out on shows. At that time, I'm pretty sure my main slide was a Dunlop Mudslide.

The attachment did work well, and I never actually had a slide fall off of it.

I would fashion one out of bent coat hanger wire before I would pay 10 bucks for the one he's selling. Same for one for the back of the headstock.. I'd make my own; find some flat springy metal, make a couple bends, drill a couple holes, and put a couple screws in to hold it secure. Done.

Not really an issue for me since I play only lap style, and I don't play on stage or anything, so I'm being dogmatic.

Instead of the slide holder, have you tried using one of those JetSlides? You just keep the slide on your finger but flick it out of the way. Might do the trick.
