Played through the amp tonight at an open mic, using the newly modified KD28 acoustic & pickup and a silly pedal. Just the right volume for the room and the sound is raw 50s. "Reverb" ran his Korean made Gretsch through it and sounded better than I've ever heard him before.

Fun.

Changed to a jack & socket for the speaker connections so I can use a better external or just use the internal. Fine, both hum in the presence of a fluorescent light, so I assume that's working, but I can't tell for certain because:

The exchange of a jack for the audio connector in doesn't work. Any ideas, anyone? :(

Cool.

One of the guys I work with gave me an old tube PA amp the other day that I'm going to fix up. A couple 6v6s, 2 12AX7s, a rectifier that's slipping my mind right now, and a silver bottomed 6SN7 that I'm going to sell for a nice little bundle if it tests okay. It just has a volume knob, so it should be a nice little amp when I get it all sorted out. I have a few caps to switch out, though, and I have to come up with a suitable box to throw it all in. Should be fun. Maybe I'll make a little tweed cab for it.

The Hacker now has a choice of internal and external speaker. Even at low volume, the 12" Celestion cab is matching up to the amp and the Strat and giving me the sound I've been after for years.

Hope your toy works out as well as mine.

It's developing a small fan club. Not me, the bloody amp! :wha:
