I have a question for you guys that play gigs.I hear a lot of players say that they change strings before every gig.If you do that, how do you stay in tune ?

Generally after changing strings before a gig I would stretch them out and warm up for about 20 minutes or so. No problem changing them every night which if you sweat like me, and play 9pm to 2am, back then it was necessary. Nowadays I'm more laid back, don't sweat as much and change them when needed. I very rarely break strings.

Salute', TB.

If you keep the strings very taut between the nut and capstan (tuner post) as you wind them on, there's little retuning needed.

I have a guitar that has had the same strings for TWENTY YEARS, and it doesn't sound too bad...

See a clip of it playing here:

Mostly, I change strings when they break or wear thru, although Buddy Guy taught me how to tie them.....but that's another story...
