If you just want to sound good to yourself, there are herbal remedies available, and they work. Guys like Dan respect the standards of those whom they entertain. A bandleader I worked for had the practice of posting a sign that read, "The band is not drinking tonite; we play better that way." Otherwise, the patrons would have us half-drunk. Ever try to tell a drunk patron that you don't need him to buy you a drink, and that you won't drink it. . .?

All the time. It's easier in California than it was in Philly.

And if they stay 'till the end, hey, I let 'em. Soon as I'm done my set, I want to kick back too.
