Possible New Band in the Works for Me

Postby stratman_27 » Wed Apr 05, 2006 7:30 pm

Buddy of mine at work plays bass and has found a harp player along with a second guitar player we're getting together this Friday evening for a jam to see if everyone hits it off. I hope things work out good because our local music scene is poor to say the least. There are a couple of headbanger bands around along with a couple country outfits but not much in the way of blues and classic rock. Will keep BRB posted on the outcome of Friday.

How exciting! It's so fun to play with new people. I bet it's gonna work out, I just got a feeling. Is that possible? But I do. Definitely keep us informed, I'll be looking on Saturday - early.

I hope you and your friends start a Blues revival that leads you to fame and fortune and have a natural ball on the way.

Had to reschedule our jam the harp player couldn't make it and the other guitar guy had to run sound for something last nite. Maybe try again next week.

Rescheduling is a fact of band life around here; the pay sucks so bad that everybody seems to be with 2-3 different bands, and you gotta constantly work around everybody's schedule. I hope you don't run into that problem.

Pay sucks and so do playing opportunities around here too. Tonight, three members of my band are playing a country gig because our band is off this week and they can't afford to pass up the money. The band consists of two brothers, one is a helluva singer and the other a rock steady drummer. Their original band disinegrated and they still had gigs on the books, so they recruited our two guitar players and the bassman. The gig tonight pays $500.00, so I would jump at the chance to make a C note too!

All of us guys have day jobs and music is a beloved hobby. I gave up along time ago on being a professional musician. Too many responsibilies to rely on being in a band to keep the bills paid. You never know when opportunity might knock though

Sorry to hear this week didn't work out but I really want to hear how it goes when you do. Maybe just some of you can get together. Best of luck and you never know.
