End of my regular gig

Postby dcblues » Fri Apr 28, 2006 11:59 pm

I found out today that the restuarant/bar where I have a regular Wednesday night gig is going out of business. The owner has asked us to play there tomorrow night for a farewell party. This was a great gig - it's close to home, we could play whatever we wanted, and I alsways got home by 11:00 or 11:30. This is the place where I got to jam with Phil Wiggins.

We're trying to make tomorrow a big blowout jam, with us as the house band. If anyone in the DC area wants to come and play, come to Half Moon BBQ tomorrow night (4/29) at 9:00.

So sorry to hear that, DC. I wish I could go to your last show. That would be so fun! I am sure when a door closes another one opens so maybe something even better is around the corner!

Thanks everyone. It was nice to have a regular gig, but it's not the end of the world. It was the only place we were playing and this will make us put together a promo pack and start getting other gigs.

Saturday night was a lot of fun. Some of the regulars from the barbershop showed up and sat in. The most interesting part of the night was when a Mariachi band from a neighboring Mexican restaurant wandered in. We got them up to do a few songs (I didn't play with them) and the audience loved them. Apparently they're a pretty well known band from Mexico who occasionally plays locally.

I'm sure we'll move on to bigger and better things.

How very cool. I've danced to the Mariachis and that is some fun music. I love those big bass guitars. Best of luck I know you will find a great place to play and maybe several. All that you need.
