Possible Pre-Wedding Gig

We have been asked to play some instrumental blues during the seating before a wedding, in the church. Not sure about this, maybe choosing the right songs will help ease it over. Anyone have any suggestions for appropriate blues instrumentals for this occasion?

Otherwise, we'll probably just pick a key and softly jam in a bluesy kinda jazzy sorta T-Bone way :D

Also been asked to play some instrumentals during the 4th of July at a Christian Coffeehouse. Suggestions? Such a thing as a patriotic blues jam? Our set list so far consists of weak versions of Sen-Sa-Shun and San-Ho-Zay.

Thanks in advance,

Come On In My Kitchen is the ideal prenuptial song, IMO.

For the wedding, whatever you do, don't play "My Next Ex-Wife" by Little Charlie & The Nightcats. :)

How about an instrumental version of "When The Saints Go Marching In" or some gospel/spiritual standards for the church?

TC that's a tough one....instrumental Christian blues that is. I guess Buddy Guy's "Cheaper to Keep Her" is out of the question. Best I can do is "Amazing Grace" sliding in open G. I suppose one could actually take any song instrumental wise or not and "bluesify" it by slide playing it on a reso. Good luck on it bro.

Amazing Grace or Old Rugged Cross with a bluesy lead is very powerfull. Just a Closer Walk with Thee works awesome with a shuffle. In the Garden is a killer lazy slide song. Slowed blues versions of simple 3 chord gospel songs are great, stuff like When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, or Swing Low, or I saw the Light, or Circle be Unbroken...etc..

Is there any Charley Jackson stuff that would work? Or Mahalia?
