Finding a Great Drummer?

Why is finding a great drummer so hard? I can find people who know how to play drums but they don't know how to play the song and keep in the pocket. And forget about dynamics.

What up?

i have been playing drums in bands since I was a kid and I can tell you one of the major issues for gigging drummers is we just don't want to drag all that gear around anymore
Used to be clubs had a house kit -those days are over. Then the guitar guys started playing so loud they wanted you to mic the drums( more crap to deal with )
Now i don't gig unless the band plays at reasonable volumes and can deal with a jazz size kit. I end up doing a lot of acoustic, jazz and folk/rock gigs which is fine by me. If it cant be set up in 20 minutes and fit in my jeep it aint happening.
i am playing more and more harp gigs because its a blast to have just a case of harps, a mic and a reasonable size amp to transport-especially here in Miami where parking is often a problem

I grew weary of the whole band 'thang a long time ago.

About 5 years ago I wanted to go back to playing with a drummer and had an epiphany.

I discovered that I have feet.

A stomp box w/pup into a little bass amp makes a great thumper.

I've been thinking about playing with a drummer.

But do I really want to go there?

Probably not.

Unless it's female drummer.
