Friday nite our bunch played a music festival on a levee on the Mississippi. It was an odd deal, in that there were 70 bands over 11 days at about 12 venues... all indoors except us. We had opened it on a Tuesday indoors at a club. We had understood that we would be under a tent on grass, so I brought a thin throw rug to put down under my keyboard. When we got there, the tent was set on a concrete plaza. We played about 4 hours. The next day I felt like somebody had pounded my legs into my hips with a sledge hammer. I'm 59 years old, with a little arthritis. I can't take that crap. When I was loadin' up my vehicle for the gig I looked right at my plush carpet remnant and decided not to bring it. I violated my "what to bring rule": bring everything you could possibly need and if you don't use it, it's not that heavy anyway. Duh!
