never had a fatality around a band or gig. car wrecks before and after, slit tires once when we pist off a club owner, fisticuffs on stage a time or 2. drunks falling onto drum kits, knocking over mics in the middle of songs. i once slammed a solid base mic stand into a drunk guy's shins as he was screaming at me during a song. he fell down. it was a case of playing at a primarily country joint where the owner wanted to start up a blues night. we were the guinea pigs. some of the clientele were a tad upset about this and that particular guy was just plain nasty when we were on break and then after we started the 2nd set of the evening. most everyone else was at least a good sport about the music we did, and many of them got up and boot scooted and came up to thanks us after the gig was over. go figger.

De Ferre wrote:When we were 20 something, in Spain, we got an opportunity to play a few gigs in Belgium. Low profile work. We took the car and drove there. But the bass player forgot to "ask for permission" to his girlfriend. He just "informed her" about those gigs. This resulting in him calling her everyday and crying, because she wouldn't forgive him. After one week we got back home and all he got was a "me or the music" kind of deal. He chose her. I had to find another player for the next gigs, which he wasn't 'allowed' to play.

After six months she left him. :?
He never got to play in a band again. :(

A similar story happened to a drum player I got a year after. That time it was about a couple of gigs, a weekend in north Africa. I don't know what happened to him after that. I saw him once, when he played with me "in secret".

" You gotta choose: me or the music!!! " :x

I really didn't want to say this, but for a second I thought that THIS is worst then drugs and alcohol (sad reasons somebody talked about few post before you)
