That's right, here we go again! Clarksdale Mississippi is home to the delta blues, and Sunflower Blues and Gospel Fest is one of the BIG weekends there. August 7th and 8th will find Jolene and myself playing at Bluesberry Cafe on Yazoo St., right downtown. Friday we will open for good friends and great band UNSEEN EYE out of Hot springs, AR, and Saturday I suspect we may do an open mic, then open again for UNSEEN EYE with TAS CRU taking the last set of the night.

This promises to be a great weekend of blues and gospel music with greats from all over the south, along with our own humble act contributing a back porch style of blues and roots to the overall mix.

Clarksdale is located at the legendary crossroads of Highways 49 and 61, which was THE major route north out of the delta during the postwar migration to Chicago, Detroit, and other big cities. Countless blues musicians came through Clarksdale, some settled there, many left and came back through, and the city is hugely rich in history and heritage. It has a feel like no other place I've ever been, especially when I'm on stage thinking, who may have actually sat here and played a set or 2?! Last year found us at the Depot blues club a couple of nights, now sadly closed. But while it was open, sitting on that stage, wandering around the building and on the apron out back, I had to think, how many of our blues forefathers and mothers walked across that very floor! It's definitely part of the magic to be found in Clarksdale.

Jolene and I are very excited to be even a small part of such a rich tradition there. The folks who live there and play music there have been nothing but welcoming to us. The people we've met, from across the entire world, have added a unique richness to the experience. And the vibe one feels is rare indeed!

We hope to meet and maybe jam with some of you who read this. It's real deal blues in the cradle!!
