Volume Pedal for Keyboards

Postby jeffl » Fri Oct 10, 2008 2:25 pm

I've decided to use a volume pedal for my keyboard at our weekly jam. I used a buddy's old Morley last week, and it seemed to work fine. Yamaha makes a volume pedal for my board and sells it for about $99.00 (U.S.); used pedals can be found everywhere for twenty to thirty bucks. Is there any reason to purchase a pedal built solely for my keyboard...(It's a YPT-310)?

I'm pretty sure that volume pedals are nothing more than a volume pot and a pedal that rolls the volume off and on. I wouldn't imagine that there's a reason you would have to buy one specifically for your keyboard, but I'm not 100% certain.

Yeah...the only thing I'm scared of is that keyboards throw big hot signals and can create issues with amp circuitry that you don't see with guitars and mics.

I did some google'ing and didn't find much. I read about some guy's setup, and he used an Ernie Ball volume pedal for his keyboard.
