New Guitar, a real sweetie !!

Postby grady » Thu Aug 14, 2008 8:04 pm

Well, as some of you already know, I'm now teaching guitar lessons so I can be at home with my 5 year old Son who is getting ready to start school in a couple weeks and stop travelling up and down thwe highways playing music 3-4 nights a week.

I kept some of the higher paying gigs and will still be playing 2 nights a week, every week for now.

I started teaching 2 weeks ago and already have 12 students.

So, I need a guitar that I could play Rock/Metal on as all my guitars are strung with 12's and set up for Blues.
I sold a Epi Les Paul on Ebay and went to my local to shop around today.

Some guy had just traded in a 1996 Fender Strat. It's exactly how I like my Strats,
Maple Fretboard, Sunburst finish.
I couldn't pass it up.

I thought you hated strats, or at least single coils?

Thank you very much Doc.

Well Nick, I'm picking out some great pickups to put in this thing.
Maybe a Hot Rails for the Bridge with some nice Dimarzios in the Mid & Neck positions.
May put a DiMarzio in the Bridge position. Haven't decided yet.
I'm madly in love with the DiMarzio in the Bridge positon of my Valley Arts Telecaster.

I don't know, we'll see.
You can bet on one thing, when I get finished with this baby, it'll be a Tone monster.

Good on you Grady. It's not a Les Paul. It's not a V. It's not a Tele. While I admit I do have a Strat also...lets just keep this our dirty little secret 'kay?

Cheers, TB.

Cool dog. What is the Westbury, never heard of it before, I have a few vintage speakers and was just wondering about it's history, if it is vintage.

I figured you would be jazzing it up...was just curious as to what you would be doing with it.

I would go with the Dimarzios too. I would tell you to try the GFS Lil Killer set for $59, but after owning 3 of those pickups and putting them in different strats...they just don't sound like a humbucker to me. No MEAT.

It's a old Bass amp. A pretty good one at that.
That Cabinet has 15" speaker. It sounds great with a Guitar amp plugged into it.

Grady, If you were willing to travel down to western Kentucky to give lessons I'd sign up.

Enjoy that new axe.

I am now on a quest for a Westbury. I have issues with collecting things I do not need, but damn ,it is fun.
