Which "Wah" for blues ?

Postby birddog » Fri Aug 01, 2008 6:02 pm

Their are so many "Wah" pedals out there now just wonder what others use & why ?
Getting back into this again I'm in need of another. The last one I bought was a Vox and it was just after "Jimi" passed on.

Opinions please, Thanks

I used to have a Cry Baby, and I hated it. The only Wah I've ever used that I liked was a Vox wah. For some reason the Vox seemed "smoother" I guess, that all the other wahs I've tried.

I prefer the Vox Wah over any other I've tried.

The FullTone wahs are awesome but, they'll cost around $250.00

I'm jus' glad nobody posted "You don't need no stinking Wah for blues". Considering all the great blues tunes I've heard with wah, I'm gettin' sick of hearin' that.

I agree. That crap gets old.

You can play Blues on any guitar, with any pedal, with any amp.
You can also wear any kind of clothes or no clothes at all while you're playing the Blues.
You can play the Blues if your 5 years old or 95 years old.
You don't a certain gauge of strings or a certain hat to play the Blues.
You just need to play the Blues.

I'm not a wah cat I reckon, (I do have a CryBaby) but if I were...I believe on "Sheik" by the Rev. Billy G and the boys, that Vox Clyde would be the shizzet!!

Cheers, TB.

I saw Walter Trout live last weekend and I couldn't figure out why he kept turnin' sideways to the crowd on some of his leads, until I noticed that he had his wah at a 90 degree angle to the rest of his pedals, and he was using it alot.

I don't play electric anything much anymore--kind of pointless when you mainly play on the couch. But I love that wah wah sound when the guitarists knows how to use it. If they don't it is a real distraction.

I've never even owned a Wah, though I've come VERY close to buying one several times. It always seemed to me that adding a Wah peddle would be like making the transition from acoustic to electric--its just almost a whole 'nother instrument requiring a whole 'nother set of skills and opening a whole 'nother dimension of possibilities. I don't think any other kind of peddle does that.

Here is a video of the Vox and Crybaby 535Q. They both sound great....just remember the Crybaby 535Q has 6 settings and a boost all selectable with a knob on the side so its much more versatile than the video shows. Also the one in the video is the standard 535Q....there is a chrome limited edition that kills.

Ha Ha  Rico.......that dang pedal was invented for FUNK not Blues!
.......besides you cant use a stomp box if your pedaling a wha

A Wah Wah is the only pedal you actually have to learn in order to play properly.
